10 Things You Must Know to Write an Ebook
Are you thinking about writing your own ebook? Then you will want to read this list of things you must know about writing your own ebook.
1. Don’t attempt to write an ebook on a topic that you have no knowledge about. It is much easier to write about a topic you have knowledge about plus your ebook will sound much more legitimate if you know what you are talking about.
2. Try to have something more than what other people in the same niche are offering. If you want to give your customers good quality then you want to give them something that they can’t get anywhere else.
If you don’t have anything ‘new’ then give them a ‘better’ version of what they can get anywhere else.
3. Have a captivating title for your ebook. If there are six ebooks being sold on the same topic, the title of your ebook is one factor that could help customers to choose your ebook.
Your title needs to have a great 'call to action' that will entice visitors to buy your ebook.
4. Be prepared to include screenshots and graphics in your ebook if it is required. Some ebooks don’t need screenshots or graphics, while other topics will require them.
For example, if you are giving step by step instructions on a topic, then it is good to have screenshots of each instruction so the reader can ‘see’ what they need to do.
5. Have a great ebook cover created for your ebook. Your ebook will look so much more professional if it has a cover that your customers can see – it gives it a more ‘real’ feeling.
If you don’t have the skills to create your own ebook cover then hire someone to create one for you.
6. Don’t set the price of your ebook too high but don’t set it too low either. It can be difficult deciding which price to sell your ebook at, as if you price it too high you might not get enough sales, but if you price it too low then you won’t make as much profit.
Try to find a price somewhere in the middle that will still make you a nice profit but will also give your customers good value for money.
7. If you type up your ebook using Microsoft Word, you might want to convert it to PDF format before selling it.
By converting your ebook to PDF format then you are protecting any hyperlinks that you have in the book. PDF is also a widely used ebook format and is easy for your customer to read.
8. Make the most of your ebook by including a link to your website at the end of the book. This will help promote and drive traffic to your website.
You can also include affiliate links throughout your ebook which can help you to earn some more income through those affiliate links (don’t just fill up the ebook with affiliate links though).
9. Have a good sales page to sell your ebook. Don’t make your sales page too long, but you don’t want it too short either. Once again you want to have a good title on your sales page that will grab your visitor’s attention.
Then you want to explain what the ebook will offer them and make it irresistible for them so that they will want to purchase your ebook.
10. Promote your ebook. Don’t think that because you have finished writing your ebook that all the hard work is done. You need to promote it and promote it hard.
Without promotion, no-one will see your sales page and no-one will buy your ebook, so get busy promoting!
